2015 Gentle Spectrums Reading Challenge

The Gentle Spectrums 2015 Reading Challenge is hosted by Carolyn at Riedel Fascination.

This is a very creative reading challenge and has two options:

a)  Limitless Palette - 10, 20 or 30 color levels.  I'm not sure if this is just for books with actual colors in the title (think The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Hunt for Red October etc), or if it includes books with color related words (list on Carolyn's blog).  I will be asking.  But I'm going for the 10 color level on this option.

b)  Gentle Subjects - One book in each category. I'm just going to quote this from the blog, because she makes it sound so dang good:

~ (1)  STONES  ~
Variations of the word, gems, jewellery, ruins, geological formations.
(“The Hidden Mountain”)
~  (2)  CHEERFUL  ~
Uplifting, positive messages;  conveys pleasant thoughts, images.
(“The Five People You Meet In Heaven”)
~  (3)  NATIONS  ~
Cultures, locations:  lakes, towns, even well-known places;  fictional included.
(“Made In Canada”)
~  (4)  PLANTS  ~
Trees, flowers, lawns, fields, grasses, grains, and gardening paraphernalia.
(“Night Gardening”)
~  (5)  WATER  ~
Water bodies, proper names, closely-connected components:  taps, sinks, pools.
(“The Lake Of Dead Languages”)
~  (6)  SPACE  ~
The sky, its contents, spatial matter, concepts, tools.  Star Trek / Star Wars-related.
(“Clouds Of Witness”)
~  (7)  DAUNTING  ~
Any title that has you thinking:  “Oooo!  That does not sound good”!
(“If Two Are Dead”)
~  (8)  STRUCTURES  ~
A building, its rooms, proper names, any of a structure’s parts.
(“The Palace Guard”)
~  (9)  TIME  ~
Any signifiers of time, like seasons.  Any unit-measurers, like watches and calendars.
(“Night Travellers”)
~  (10)  HUMOROUS  ~
Odd, or anything that gives you a grin.  I’ll accept a ‘pun laid on too thick’ grimace too!
(“The Dragon And The Dry Goods Princess”).

  1. Wow, Ms. LuAnn, you are making my day! You're in all of my themes except "Ethereal" - so far! {GRIN} http://cmriedel.wordpress.com/ethereal-2015/

I hope you find them flexible and the wonderful time that was my aim, when I made them up this year. Happy to have you for year two. Yes, "Limitless Pallet, (A)" is all about colour titles, including the words on the main page. Merry Christmas! Carolyn.

  2. I'm glad your challenges start in February, Carolyn. It's so hard, this last week of the year, with all the challenges starting in January. I'm like, "should I read that now, or save it for a week so I can include it in a challenge?" I wonder will I be having that same problem the last week of January? :O)

  3. The asset of only one of me running in February. :) Okay with me if folks allign with Jan-Dec circles; we simply removed the rush. If you review, each group has a page; if you don't, come on back to comment a list from time to time.

I thought I'd stop by and ask how you are. Do you garden or head away from home in summer? Are you rural or city? We went country a few years back and after buying a house, it's local short jaunts for a good while. Lots to enjoy at home, especially in warm seasons.

    1. Garden (corn, tomatoes, pumpkins). Someone was supposed to come cut the field beside us for hay today and they have not been by.

Ugh. I changed the background on my blog after I made this post originally, and obviously now the yellow is NOT working. I think my eyes are hurting. :p Will try to get my list updated soon.
