The medical examiner reveals that poison is what did him in and Carrie feels responsible for having surged forward with the program despite pushback from her director. Driven by guilt, Carrie’s determined to discover who murdered the detective, convinced it’s the same man who killed Laura all those years ago. Luckily for Carrie, she has a friendly, knowledgeable ghost by her side. But as she questions the shadows surrounding Laura’s case, disturbing secrets come to light and with each step Carrie takes, she gets closer to ending up like Al.
Now it’s due or die for Carrie in Death Overdue the delightful first in a new cozy series by Allison Brook.

MY REVIEW
Bibliophiles love a library. Bibliophiles who enjoy mysteries with a touch of the supernatural will adore Death Overdue by Allison Brooke. It's about a haunted library! Luckily for Carrie, our heroine, the ghostie here is of a former librarian, and she is quite the helpful apparition.
Carrie has some issues with her co-workers. Hey, who doesn't, am I right? And at her first big event in her new job, the speaker is murdered. Not the makings for a stellar career position. But between Carrie and her ghostly sidekick, research is conducted and clues are found and developed both on the computer and in dusty storerooms full of old town records.
The story was entertaining before the murder, and downright exciting afterwards! This was very much a 'just one more chapter' book for me, and by that I mean I probably should have gone to sleep but I just had to read 'one more chapter' before I went to bed. (Who knew a chapter could be that long? J/K). Great pacing here as well.
Death Overdue is the first of a series of "Haunted Library" books. I just have one question. Where do I sign up for a library card so I can go back again and again?
