Cold as Ice by Julie Mulhern - #review #giveaway

Ellison Russell’s life resembles a rollercoaster ride. And rollercoasters make her ill. Her daughter Grace has a crush on a boy Ellison doesn’t trust and she’s taken to hosting wild parties when Ellison goes out for the evening. Worse, the bank which represents Grace’s inheritance from her father may be in trouble.

When a meeting with the chef at the country club leads to the discovery of a body, Ellison can’t afford cold feet. She must save the bank, find the killer, and convince Grace (and herself) that powerful women don’t need men to rescue them.

MY REVIEW

The more I read about Ellison Russell, the more I like her.  I think I've read all but #5 (Watching the Detectives), and in each book, new facets of her character are revealed.  And that's character, as in the way she conducts herself, not character as in a book. :)

This time around, Ellison solves a murder, saves a bank, and teaches her daughter a thing or two about the strength of women.  Not bad for one book.  I swear, this woman needs a cape!

As for that party thing?  Oh heck, NO!  I'd either hire the sturdiest British housekeeper I could find to be there when I couldn't (in addition until grounding her until she was 30 or so, or make a deal with the neighbor that whenever there is a party going on in my absence, she would automatically call the police.  Once or twice of that happening, and homegirl would be more like a girl who can be trusted at home by herself.  (If it were my daughter, I'd make sure the boyfriend knew that I was going shooting at the gun range with a gentleman friend and would be bringing home my newest acquisition.  Yup, Ellison and I are the moms your friends told you about. Ha!

If you haven't 'met' Ellison yet...what in the world is keeping you?  If you have, you will enjoy this story as much as I did.

MEET THE AUTHOR

– Julie Mulhern is the USA Today bestselling author of The Country Club Murders. She is a Kansas City native who grew up on a steady diet of Agatha Christie. She spends her spare time whipping up gourmet meals for her family, working out at the gym and finding new ways to keep her house spotlessly clean–and she’s got an active imagination. Truth is–she’s an expert at calling for take-out, she grumbles about walking the dog and the dust bunnies under the bed have grown into dust lions.
