• Books Read: The Masqueraing Magician by Gigi Pandian
• Challenge: Writing My Own Fairytale - Would You Rather
• Would you rather Lend books to someone who dog-ears pages or to someone who reads with cheesy Cheetos fingers?  I'd rather lend books to someone who dog-ears.  While I don't care for dog-eared pages...cheesy Cheetos fingerprints and food crumbs all up in your bookbook will attract creepy crawlies and destroy your book faster.
• Would you rather Be able to meet one character of your choice or meet one author of your choice?  Author - because they have many characters inside them.
• Would you rather: Never be allowed in a book store again or never be allowed in a library again?  I'd rather not be allowed in a library again.  While I love me some libraries, in book stores you don't have to be quiet and you can keep the books you take out.
• Would you rather: Have to choose one of your favorite characters to die in their book or have to pick one of your favorite couples to break up in their book?  I'd rather a favorite couple broke up.  You can usually find somebody else to love.  Death is a little more permanent.
• Would you rather: Be required to read Twilight once a year for the rest of your life or The Scarlet Letter once a year for the rest of your life?  The Scarlet Letter.  Nothing against Twilight, but while it is immensely popular, it hasn't stood the test of time ... and you're still more likely to be required to read TSL in an English class than you would the other one.

I plan on reading the following titles during the Bout of Books:

Death of a Brooklyn Landlord by Susan Russo Anderson.  I've read several titles in her Fina Fitzgibbons series, and can't wait to see what her MIL (Lorraine McDuffy) does in this book.  I'm reading this as part of a book tour and my review will be up on January 20th.

Plain Dead by Emma Miller.  Amish. Cozy. Mystery.  Nuff said.  Also part of a book tour, to be reviewed on the blog on January 20th.

I don't think I've ever tallied how many books I read during a week before, so this will be fun.  I'll be going for 7 books, like 'a book a day keeps the boredom away' or something like that.  I'll either be reading ARCs for reviews (I've got 3 scheduled in that time frame, and 9 others during the rest of January and early February, but I've read a couple of them already) or from my extensive, almost-crush weight TBR pile and list.  Seriously, I keep wondering when my Kindle app will say, "Does not compute."

Since I've signed up for *ahem* quite a few reading challenges for 2014, I thought a little 'jump start' would be in order.  Then I found information about the Bout of Books Readathon on the blog "My Reader's Block".  I like the no-pressure feature of this readathon, because the last one I did lasted a contiguous 24 hours;  I don't know it if was my age, or my health, or a combination of the two, but that experience put me down HARD - towit, I have only done one blog post since that time.  But 2014 is a new year, and with reading challenges etc, I'm planning on coming back in a big way.  So...

If you are a reader, you should sign up (there are mini-challenges and giveaways to tempt you)!

If you are not a reader, YOU SHOULD REALLY SIGN UP!  *lol*  (Seriously, although I did not do well on my reading challenges in 2013, I read more than I have in years...and that is a very good thing!)

For some (like me) the cost of lots of books could be prohibitive.  There is, of course, a library.  And, there are kazillions of sources of free Kindle or e'books online...so many, that if I had to carry hardback copies of all the books I have on Kindle Cloud Reader (exclusively online), I'd probably wind up in traction. :O)
