The Stitching Hour by Amanda Lee - #review #giveaway

In the latest mystery from the bestselling author of Wicked Stitch, the future of Marcy Singer’s embroidery shop is dangling by a thread…

Marcy’s shop, the Seven-Year Stitch, is one year old this October so it’s time to party in little Tallulah Falls, Oregon. Aside from the Halloween decorations and festive stitching kits and patterns, Marcy’s got all sorts of celebratory swag, including Seven-Year Stitch key rings and goodie bags.

Unfortunately, her new neighbors might spoil the revelry. An eccentric couple has opened a haunted house next door, and all that screaming will certainly scare off customers. But there’s even more to be frightened of after a local waitress is found dead on the sidewalk with mysterious markings on her neck—and one of Marcy’s key rings beneath her. With no time to hem and haw, Marcy must act fast if she hopes to restore the peace to Tallulah Falls…

MY REVIEW

I got to read the previous book in the series, Wicked Stitch, and loved it so much, I read it like 10 times.  (No joke!)  It just happened to be outside when I was, so I'd read a chapter here and there and it added up!

So when I saw this book come up for tour, I wasted NO time in applying to be a host.  When I found out I would be hosting a stop on the tour, I think I may have done a little dance for joy.

Considering how many new businesses fail in their first year, it is a testament to Marcy's business savvy and community interaction that her boutique is still going strong.  And what a first year she had!  Dead bodies all over the place (although not at the same time, thank goodness), including her next-door neighbor who had opened a competing shop and aggressively going after Marcy's customers.

After all that noise, a haunted house will be moving in next door to her shop for the Halloween season.  Can you imagine, some of the little old ladies that attend Marcy's embroidery classes, hearing bloodcurdling screams coming from the next space over?  Oy!

Of course, everything changes when an local waitress who already has rumors swirling around her winds up dead on the sidewalk in front of the haunted house.  And yes, it doesn't help that one of Marcy's promotional keyrings is found beneath the body.  You see, she had just opened the box and given one to a friend, one who had reason not to care for the waitress...

Each visit to Tallulah Falls makes me love the people (and Angus, Marcy's Irish Wolfhound) even more.  I hope to continue to hear from the folks there for a long time to come!
