REVIEW

I first came across Nina Amir's work when I found "NaNonFiWriMo", (National Non-Fiction Writing Month), which is her response to the popular "NaNoWriMo", (National Novel Writing Month).  So, when iRead Book Tours sent me the email about this tour, I JUMPED at the chance.

Ms. Amir makes the distinction in this new edition of How to Blog a Book between 'blogging a book'" and 'booking a blog'.  'Blogging a book' is where you create a blog based on your book idea, whereas 'booking a blog' comes from gathering blog posts on a subject, written over a period of time and organizing them into a book.  At first, this distinction was difficult for me to grasp, but it seems to be a matter of focus.

A lot of research went into the writing of this book.  I'm fairly certain of that, because my head was just about swimming from all the statistics.  But statistics and real-life examples of people who had blogged books or booked blogs are important if you are considering doing either, because you want to invest your time and talents wisely.

I loved what I call the 'nuts and bolts' section of How to Blog a Book.  If you have a good idea and follow the steps Ms. Amir provides, you will write that book!  She talks the talk and shows you how to walk the walk.  And there will be some 'walking' involved: you have to write, you have to market and make the other choices that must be decided when birthing a book.

If you are considering writing a non-fiction book, I highly recommend Nina Amir's How to Blog a Book.  And check out her website.  It is packed with information on writing, marketing and there are more resources than you can 'shake a pen at'.

As athletes and artists train and rehearse to improve their crafts, so must the writer.  How to Blog a Book and Write Nonfiction Now are your training manuals.  Just do it.

  1. That sounds super helpful. I don't think my posts could ever turn into a book (novellas of Pick Your Plot threads notwithstanding..), but I know a lot of people do that kind of thing. Especially with their A-Z posts. We're hearing about more and more of those! She should see if one of the co-hosts would feature her at the A-Z blog next spring...

Visiting folks who liked my A-Z theme to let you know my pick your plot book, Armageddon, is on sale for $0.99 through Monday :)
    Hope you are doing well!

  4. I like the idea behind this book, but I would question who would pay for a book when its contents are already available for free. Does the book offer any advice on that?
