I try to make it a truly "Wordless Wednesday" but this picture is so hard to see that it just requires a little explanation.
My husband came home to Kentucky from helping his Mom and her husband in Texas for two weeks. I think it's the longest time we've been apart in 16 years. I was at home with the kids and our furry menagerie. The momma dog, Sneakers, is a Daddy's girl. When we got back to the apartment 2 weeks ago, she went sniffing around the Suburban, looking for her Daddy.
Anytime I went to lay down in the bedroom, if I didn't let her back with me, she would scratch at the door to be let in.
And today, in a move I had never seen her do before, she stood on a chair in the kitchen, nosed aside the curtains and looked. I swear part of her understood that her Daddy was coming home.
I tell you what - I was only away from my husband for two weeks. But I developed a WHOLE NEW RESPECT for military spouses. I really don't know how I would handle something like that.
Thank you for visiting. Do you have a/some furry babies? Feel free to brag on them in comments here. And then click the little "Wordless Wednesday" button at the top of this post and go visit some other WW participants, or become one yourself at CreateWithJoy.com.
Our fur babies will all be going home to their new Forever Homes in 3 weeks time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet story! We are a family of pet lovers too. Over the years I have noticed that it's not unusual for a dog to start looking for daddy when his usual arrival time approaches. And our current (rescued from a hoarder - eww!) dog licks my husband's hand on weekends when his week day 6 AM wake up time arrives.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your family is back together again!
I'm sure it's hard for little kids and pets to understand when their parents go away for awhile.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous, Cindy! Trying to work with our local Humane Society here to find our last 3 at least foster homes until they can go into an "adoption day" event.
ReplyDeleteThanks, J. Yes, dogs are very smart that way. Sneakers will lay her head on your leg (if you happen to be, say, sitting at a computer) for some attention. If you don't move fast enough, she will put her nose under your arm and give it a little shove. :p
ReplyDeleteIt sure is, Alissa. I the play on your name in your blog title The Planet of the Apels
ReplyDeleteThat is such a sweet story, we have 2 cats and love their personalities, they each have something to share or do everyday, they do keep us on our toes. Hope you will be able to stop by WW this week
ReplyDeleteMiniature Purses WW w/Linky
It is funny when animals have an inkling toward a particular person. It's also endearing.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a wonderful dog, Wrecks, but had to give him to a family when I moved to an apartment and began working longer hours. Now, the only furry babies I have are dust bunnies. :)
Hi LuAnn
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and commenting on my Pope post, I appreciate you taking the time.
Animals are sensitive, our dog acts like we've left him for years if we just go up the street and back again. We love him.
Karren, thanks for letting me know about your linkup. I may just have to become a "purse person"!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to remember that quote, Nancy..."Now, the only furry babies I have are dust bunnies." Priceless!
ReplyDeleteIt was my pleasure to visit your blog, Michelle, you always have such great pictures!
ReplyDeleteOur furry babies are totally loveable, and they keep us on schedule . . .or try to. My dogs and cat know when we are supposed to get home, and when my husband is a little late, they get anxious.
ReplyDeleteBut one of the very cool things God has done for us, Tyrean, is to give us furry companions who offer us love.
