But her life falls apart when the schoolboy dies from his injuries. The police believe Anna’s story, until the autopsy results reveal something more sinister. A frenzied media attack sends Anna into a spiral of self-doubt. Her precarious mental state is further threatened when she receives a chilling message from someone claiming to be the “Ophelia Killer,” a serial killer who preyed on the town twenty years ago—and who abruptly stopped when Anna’s father committed suicide.
Is Anna as innocent as she claims? And is murder forgivable, if committed to save your child’s life? Internationally bestselling author Tracy Buchanan takes readers on an emotional roller coaster ride filled with heart-stopping secrets and hairpin turns in No Turning Back, her US debut.

MY REVIEW
Oh my stars, this is brilliant!
The prologue gives us a description of someone, perhap a child (?), trying to get away from a boy. It's hard to tell exactly if the boy is actually injured, or trying to lure the narrator out into the open, but it sets up a slightly nerve-wracking uncertainty. The closest thing I can think of that compares to this feeling is when you go into a haunted house around Halloween. You know there are going to be things that jump out at you or bump into you, you know you'll scream, but you go in anyway. You can't not go.
Poor Anna. She's probably had this tension for most of her life. And now she is a new mother, she's going back to work for the first time since her daughter Joni's birth, and oh, she's getting a divorce; and those are just the start of her problems!
You see, a serial killer plagued the town some years ago. When the killings stopped just after Anna's father committed suicide, townspeople suspected him to be the killer. So, not a lot of love going from the town to the family. It was bound to be uber-stressful on a child.
Then Ms. Buchanan gives us the story of one of the killings all those years ago after every few chapters, which keeps up that tension. I still have goosebumps, and they keep coming back every time I think about the crimes!
I could go on (just trust me on that one, ok?) but I won't. Far be it from me to ruin your chance to be enthralled -- like when you find yourself stuck in a giant web and see the 'mother of all spiders' coming towards you. And you can't look away.
If you have an e-reader, don't read this one in the dark. Seriously.
I CANNOT WAIT to read Buchanan's other books! *shiver*
