Blame it on the Cowboy by Delores Fossen - #review

  • Mass Market Paperback: 416 pages
  • Publisher: HQN Books (September 27, 2016)
Every cowboy has a wild side—all it takes is the right woman to unleash it…

All of Logan McCord’s carefully laid plans erupt the day he walks in on his would-be fiancée getting…well, not so carefully laid. Tonight, just once, Logan is acting on instinct. And that instinct is telling him to say “Happy to oblige” to the cute stranger looking for a no-strings fling with a Texas cowboy.

When chef Reese Stephens made her bucket list, she mistakenly thought she had weeks to live. Not that she regrets her one-night-stand with the gorgeous rancher. But she does regret leaving an heirloom watch as a parting gift. Tracking Logan down is easy. Walking away again is another matter. Because Reese’s crazy past and Logan’s battered heart are no match for the kind of chemistry that could turn one night into the start of a passionate lifetime.

MY REVIEW

What do you get when you mix a handsome, but sad cowboy with a woman who thinks she is terminally ill, and toss with a liberal serving of tequila and multiple dashes of Tex-Mex spices?  (Yeah, ok, the cover might have something to do with it as well.)  You get a story that will make a little steam come out of the most mousy gal's ears, that's what.

And Ms. Fossen delivers just such a tale in Blame it on the Cowboy.  This is my first experience with this author and it will not be the last....even if she didn't write novels including cowboys.  There's just something about that archetype, maybe like nurses or librarians for guys, but cowboys are all ours!

But they must have had second helpings that first night, because what happened in San Antonio did not stay in San Antonio.  To be fair, Reese found out she was actually not about to die, and she kind of wanted the special watch back that she had left for Logan as a memento.  I can understand that.

Cowboy has a more 'heat' (*wink**wink*nudge**nudge*) than I usually go for in my reading, but the surrounding story pleases in and of itself.  Think of it as the courtesies (opening doors, holding out chairs) that men often do for women with whom they have a relationship.

Sometimes, when you meet a man that your friend is interested in you might ask, "Does he have a brother?"   Well, Logan does, and although they might be spoken for, they still make for entertaining reading.

  1. I actually clicked this review because of the title. I love a good cowboy story, and this one sounds so steamy and heated that it's good enough to turn grassland into desert. I have to try it!

  2. I like the novel story line and that it has a lot of sizzle too, makes it all the more interesting!
